Introduction to Canoe Course Overview
Approx Time (7 hrs)
2hrs Knowledge, 4 hours Paddle Skills, 1 hrs Rescue Skills
Knowledge - Clothing for paddling, parts of a canoe, safety equipment, decision making for a part-day long paddle in a sheltered area close to shore.
Paddling Skills - Forward stroke, J-stroke, sweep strokes, draw & pry strokes, bracing.
Rescue Skills - assisted recoveries.
Paddle Canada certification available - additional fees apply
Introduction to Tandem Canoe
This course introduces the participant to canoeing with a partner in sheltered waters with easy landing oportunities, light winds and calm conditions. Course covers clothing appropriate for different conditions as well as Transport Canada regulations as they relate to canoeing. Basic paddle strokes are taught, along with assisted recoveries (rescues) in coastal environments.
Participants under 16 must participate with a parent and weigh at least 60lbs
